The Pharaohs, led by coach Hossam Hassan and assured of a place in the upcoming AFCON finals, will take on Cape Verde in the fifth round of qualifiers.

Egypt clinched qualification for the 2025 AFCON tournament, which will take place in Morocco, after an impressive showing in the earlier rounds. They earned maximum points in their first four matches.

However, key players Omar Marmoush, Mahmoud “Trezeguet” Hassan, and Marwan Attia will not participate, as the coaching staff opted to rest them.

Both Trezeguet, who currently plays for Qatar’s Al-Rayyan, and Ahly’s Attia serve suspensions after receiving second yellow cards in the qualifiers. Coach Hassan also granted Marmoush, who represents Germany's Eintracht Frankfurt, a rest.

Friday’s match will be held on an artificial turf pitch, marking the team’s penultimate qualifier.

The Pharaohs will then conclude their AFCON qualifying campaign on Tuesday against Botswana in the final round.
