Focused on bolstering responses to HIV, tuberculosis, and the repercussions of COVID-19 on healthcare infrastructure, this collaboration underscores Egypt's dedication to fortifying health resilience among marginalized groups.

The UNDP functions as the Principal Recipient, orchestrating endeavours alongside the Ministry of Health and Population and civil society entities to deliver vital preventive and diagnostic services.

Key initiatives within the healthcare system involve partnerships with the World Health Organization (WHO), UNAIDS, and civil society bodies to enhance healthcare access, early detection, and treatment.

The fresh framework accentuates augmented cooperation between the Egyptian government, embodied by the national HIV & TB programs, and the Global Fund, streamlining combined actions to enhance Egyptians' health outcomes.

According to a press statement, in 2023, the UNDP and its associates facilitated access to HIV prevention kits for over 18,600 individuals, conducted TB screenings for 4,955 using WHO-endorsed rapid diagnostic tools, and offered TB treatment to nearly 1,000 people, including migrants.

"The MOHP is unwavering in safeguarding the health and well-being of all Egyptians," said Dr. Mohamad Hassany, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Public Health Initiatives and Projects.

"Together with our partners, we are committed to mitigating the impact of diseases such as tuberculosis and HIV on vulnerable populations."

The upgraded healthcare infrastructure in Egypt benefits Egyptians and aligns with humanitarian principles by providing essential services to the increasing number of refugees and migrants seeking sanctuary in the nation.
