El-Sisi appoints Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy as ambassador to Hungary

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi issued a presidential decree on Saturday appointing Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy as ambassador to Hungary.

Fahmy has served as spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency since January 2023.

Ambassador Ahmed Fahmy previously served as a counsellor at Egypt's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York and Egypt's diplomatic missions in London and Abidjan.

He received a BS in Economics in 1999 from Cairo University.

He obtained master's and doctoral degrees in international relations and political economy from the United Kingdom.

The presidential decree also included appointing Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, Egypt's current ambassador to Hungary, as an ambassador-at-large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, overseeing matters related to migration and Egyptians abroad.
