The denial followed a claim made on X earlier on Monday by the Money Message hacking group, alleging to have breached the ETA and exfiltrated 500 GB of data.
"Such rumours are baseless and designed to sow confusion," the ETA declared in an official statement.
The authority reiterated that protecting taxpayers' data privacy and security is a top priority and assured that it adheres to the highest global data protection and confidentiality standards.
Money Message is a cyber-criminal organization known for conducting ransomware attacks. It targets global companies and demands a ransom to restore or decrypt stolen data.
Moreover, the ETA emphasized its commitment to ensuring a secure digital environment through rigorous security measures, encouraging the public to use digital services confidently.
The statement also indicated that the Egyptian Tax Authority relies on advanced digital infrastructure, sophisticated security systems, and cutting-edge technologies that align with international best practices.
It added that ETA also collaborates with global firms specializing in information security and tax technology.
Furthermore, it clarified that the authority is incorporating artificial intelligence solutions to enhance tax administration efficiency and improve taxpayer service quality.
According to the statement, the ETA continuously updates its security measures to protect its digital systems against any cyber threats or breaches.
Databases containing taxpayers' data are valuable because they hold sensitive personal and financial information, which can be used for identity theft, fraud, and corporate espionage.
