According to TASS' and the ministry's calculations, Ukraine's losses this year alone exceeded the losses of the first two years of the war combined, as the total number of Ukrainian army casualties reached 906,500 dead and wounded.

The number of casualties cannot be independently verified. Neither Moscow nor Kyiv has yet revealed the exact figures of its losses.

The New York Times recently reported, citing US military and intelligence sources, that 57,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed so far.

NATO estimated the number of Russian casualties at more than 600,000 dead and wounded, while Western intelligence sources reported 200,000 dead and 400,000 wounded among the Russian ranks, DPA reported.

The Ukrainian government also said in its list that more than 722,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded since the beginning of the war in February 2022.
