The 25-year-old forward, who has been in exceptional form, is expected to require 15 to 20 days to recuperate from the injury incurred in training before his national team's showdown against South Korea in the Asian 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.
Abu Ali, who scored 18 goals to win the Egyptian League's top-scorer title last season, has been a linchpin for Ahly since his arrival in January 2024.
His scoring prowess was missed during Ahly's 1-1 draw against Ittihad of Alexandria on Friday.
He will miss Tuesday's CAF Champions League group stage opening game against Stade d'Abidjan of Cote d'Ivoire, and the Champions League encounter against Orlando Pirates of South Africa on 7 December.
However, Abou Ali is expected to be back in action for Ahly's participation in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 11 to 18 December.
