"This step reflects Egypt's ongoing efforts to advance human rights and demonstrates the political leadership's commitment to swift and fair justice," the National Dialogue said in a statement on Sunday.

Earlier Sunday, an Egyptian criminal court approved a request by the Public Prosecution to remove 716 individuals from terrorist lists after they ceased all their unlawful activities against the state and its institutions.

The Public Prosecution said the decision followed the investigations it ordered.

According to the statement, the National Dialogue commended the state's thorough review of the status of individuals on the terrorist entity list and its consequent removal of the names of those individuals who prove to have permanently renounced terrorism from these lists.

In addition, the Dialogue stated that removing these names from the terrorist entity list upholds the National Dialogue's principles and goals and creates an additional positive atmosphere regarding human rights and public freedoms.

"It also signifies a genuine political will to deepen such progress and reflects a constructive response to the National Dialogue's principles and objectives, which have focused on human rights issues since its launch more than two years ago," the statement concluded.

The Public Prosecution has not revealed the names of those removed from the list of terrorist entities.
