The decree, published in the Official Gazette on Monday, appointed former youth and sports minister Khaled Abdel-Aziz as chairman of the SCMR, succeeding Karam Gabr.

The new SCMR board includes Vice President of the State Council Abdul Salam Al-Najjar, Head of the Dynamic Monopoly Prevention Agency Mahmoud Momtaz, and Representative of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority Hossam Saqr.

Other board members are Abdel-Mohsen Salama, former chairman of Al-Ahram Establishment; Ola Al-Shafi’i, editor-in-chief of youm7; and journalists Adel Hammouda and Essam Al-Amir.

The president also appointed journalist and anchor Ahmed Elmoslemany chairman of the NMA, succeeding Hussein Zein. The NMA is responsible for supervising and managing Egypt’s state-owned television and radio.

Abdel-Sadeq El-Shorbagi retained his position as chairman of the NPA, which oversees national newspapers, manages their editorial, administrative, and financial affairs, and appoints board chairmen and editors-in-chief.

The decree sets a four-year term for all media entities.

Under Egypt's 2014 constitution, the three bodies regulate TV, radio, print, and online media.

The SCMR was established in April 2017 in accordance with the Institutional Organization for the Press and Media Law 92/2016, followed by Law 180/2018, which regulates the press, media, and SCMR.

The body organizes audiovisual and digital media and print and digital press.
