The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the deal would contribute to de-escalation in the region by fully implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701, including the deployment of the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon and its control over all the Lebanese territories.

The ministry also reiterated the necessity of respecting Lebanon's sovereignty without interference in its internal affairs.

Furthermore, it stressed the need to complete the formation of Lebanese institutions, including the presidential election, without external influence and based on national consensus.

The truce deal between Israel and Lebanon, brokered by the US and France, became effective at 4am local time (02:00 GMT).

The deal puts an end to nearly 14 months of fire exchanges along the Lebanese-Israeli border linked to the ongoing Israeli war in the Gaza Strip.

Egypt asserted that the agreement should be an overture to halt the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, the statement added.

Moreover, it called for an immediate ceasefire in the strip, unhindered humanitarian aid access for Palestinians, and an end to the unjustified violations in the West Bank.

Egypt also emphasized the importance of pushing for de-escalation in the region. It asserted that military solutions cannot solve the regional crises, instead negotiation and restoring rights.

According to the statement, Cairo advocated for a serious political process with a specific timeline to establish a Palestinian state on Palestinian soil and end the occupation per international law and US resolutions.
