Despite topping Group C in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers with 14 points, Egypt suffered back-to-back draws against Cape Verde and Botswana in their final matches.
Egypt have already secured a berth in next year’s prestigious continental competition, but the reults impacted their global standing.
Under coach Hossam Hassan, the Pharaohs remain third in Africa, trailing Morocco and Senegal. In the Arab world, Egypt holds second place behind Morocco.
Historically, Egypt broke into FIFA’s top 10 after winning three consecutive AFCON titles in 2006, 2008, and 2010.
Morocco dropped one spot to 14th, maintaining their lead among African nations, while the Lions of Teranga jumped three places to 17th globally.
Meanwhile, Niger made the most significant leap in November’s rankings, climbing nine spots to 122nd. Nigeria, however, suffered the most significant drop, falling eight places to 44th.
Argentina, France, and Spain retained the top three positions, with England and Brazil rounding out the top five.
