The celebration was attended several distinguished guests, including Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, Minister of Culture Ahmed Hano, the institute's dean, Professor Isaac Ajban, and Coptic studies scholars.
The event featured a documentary titled "A Beacon of People", showcasing the institute's 70-year journey and enumerating its accomplishments.
Since its establishment in 1954, the Institute of Coptic Studies preserved and advanced Coptic heritage and culture, cementing its status as a beacon of academic and artistic excellence.
In his address at the event, Pope Tawadros II congratulated the institute on its milestone anniversary.
He praised its contributions to the Coptic Orthodox Church and the nation, noting that Egypt was the first nation in Africa to embrace Christianity in the First Century AD.
He further praised the institute’s youthful energy, resilience, and contributions over the past seven decades, describing it as a source of pride for the country.
Additionally, the Pope expressed gratitude to the state for commemorating this milestone by issuing a special coin.
Before the start of the celebration, Pope Tawadros II and tourism and culture ministers inaugurated an exhibition showcasing the institute’s academic and artistic contributions.
The exhibition featured a diverse collection of Coptic art and literature from various institute departments.
