The foremost among Palestinians' rights is establishing their independent state along the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, President El-Sisi wrote on his official page on X.
“The Palestinian cause will remain our top priority, as we believe in its justice and the right of those people to be independent, free, and dignified,” the president added.
In 1977, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) called for the annual observance of 29 November as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
On that day in 1947, the UNGA adopted the Partition Resolution, which assigned almost 60 percent of Historic Palestine to the creation of a Jewish state.
Palestinians, who made up more than 70 per cent of the population at the time, rejected the partition plan as unfair to the indigenous population.
Unwavering solidarity
In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Cairo's unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, paying tribute to their courageous resilience in the face of the Israeli occupation's systematic violations amid international silence.
The ministry also called for intensified international efforts to end Israel's occupation of the Palestinian territories and fulfil the aspirations of the Palestinian people for self-determination.
Furthermore, Egypt emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and the unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
The statement also highlighted the upcoming international ministerial conference in Cairo, scheduled for Monday. The conference aims to mobilize humanitarian aid for Gaza to alleviate its people's suffering.
Moreover, the Egyptian Presidency also announced Friday that President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people in a message to President Mahmoud Abbas on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
Since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, Egypt has been playing a crucial role in providing and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to the strip, including food, medicine, and other essential supplies.
Israel has killed and injured nearly 150,000 Palestinians since 7 October 2023.
Israeli airstrikes and bombardment have caused extensive damage to Gaza's infrastructure and displaced most of the strip’s residents.
Egypt has repeatedly rejected any forced displacement of the Palestinians from Gaza.
Egypt, along with the US and Qatar, has mediated indirect talks between Israel and Hamas to reach an immediate ceasefire, secure a captive-detainee swap deal, and end the Israeli war on the strip.
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected all ceasefire proposals, opting to continue the war.
