Mahmoud El-Shamy capitalized on a pinpoint cross from Mohamed Makhlouf in the 55th minute, heading past goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy to secure the win.

Pyramids FC, the 2024 Egypt Cup winners, had chances to salvage at least a point, but Ibrahim Adel and Congolese striker Fiston Mayele squandered clear opportunities to level the score.

The victory takes Masry to 10 points from four matches, two ahead of defending champions Ahly. Zamalek, also on seven points, will face Ghazl El Mahalla later today. Pyramids FC slipped to third in the standings (7 points) with the defeat.

The Port Said-based club has enjoyed a stellar start to the season, recording notable victories against Cairo heavyweights Zamalek and Pyramids FC, as well as Talae El-Gaish. Their only dropped points came in a goalless draw against Gouna at home two weeks ago.

Under the guidance of Ali Maher, Masry have yet to concede a goal this season, showcasing defensive resilience while netting four goals against strong opponents.

Now they will resume their African challenge as they wil face Black Bulls in the Confederation Cup on Sunday.
