The White Knights completely overwhelmed their hosts, who were reduced to ten players from the first minute after fullback Yehya Zakareya received his marching orders for a harsh tackle on the face of Zamalek youth winger Ahmed Abdel-Rehim.
The Cairo giants needed only 18 minutes to open the scoring, thanks to striker Nasser Mansi, who received a nice pass from veteran midfielder Abdallah El-Saed to fire home from close range.
Three minutes later, Mansi added a second with a well-placed header, leading the Egyptian League top scorers’ chart with four goals so far.
The second half saw a calmer performance from Zamalek until the 72nd minute, when a penalty was awarded to the team after a foul on substitute forward Omar Farej.
Specialist Ahmed ‘Zizo’ Sayed converted the penalty to open his scoring account for the season.
With ten minutes remaining, defender Hossam Abdel-Meguid completed the rout with a header before making way for experienced defender Mahmoud ‘El-Wensh’ Hamdi.
This marked the solid defender's first appearance after 569 days of absence due to a serious knee injury.
Zamalek are now second in the league table with nine points, one point behind leaders Masry, who defeated Pyramids FC 1-0 earlier on Monday.
