According to the Alexandria Port Authority's rainstorm schedule, the Kasem storm occurs annually on 4 December, severely affecting the coastal city for up to five days.
It will bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and rough seas, which will affect local weather and maritime activities.
Local authorities in Alexandria are fully prepared for potential flooding from heavy rainfall, having intensified efforts to manage the situation. Meanwhile, emergency response units remain on standby to address any issues that may arise.
Alexandria and other coastal cities in Egypt typically experience between 18 and 20 winter gales annually, which can range from cold spells to intense rainfall and, occasionally, dangerous sea conditions.
However, this week, normal Autumn conditions are expected in Cairo, Lower Egypt, north coasts, and northern Upper Egypt.
South Sinai and southern Upper Egypt will remain warmer, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).
Additionally, the EMA anticipates morning fog on agricultural and major roads near water bodies and light-to-moderate rain that will intermittently affect the north coasts and northern Lower Egypt during the week.
Starting Friday, occasional winds may also be experienced across western Egypt.
According to the EMA, morning temperatures in Cairo and Lower Egypt are expected to reach 22 degrees during the week, dropping to 13 degrees at night.
Similarly, the north coasts and northern Upper Egypt will see daytime temperatures of 22 degrees and nighttime lows of 10 and 8 degrees, respectively.
Southern Upper Egypt will experience much warmer temperatures, expected to reach 26 degrees in the morning and 10 degrees at night.
Winter will start on 21 December, bringing relief after successive heatwaves throughout the summer.
