Abdelatty met with Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan in Port Sudan, delivering a message from Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
During his meeting with Al-Burhan, Abdelatty reaffirmed President El-Sisi’s appreciation for the deep historical and fraternal ties between Egypt and Sudan, according to a statement from the Egyptian foreign ministry.
He also emphasized Egypt’s commitment to supporting Sudan during this critical juncture to achieve stability and security.
The minister highlighted Egypt’s active involvement in regional and international efforts to stabilize Sudan while safeguarding its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
Abdelatty also pointed to Egypt’s ongoing efforts to facilitate Sudan’s reinstatement within the African Union, the statement added.
In addition, the visit featured an official consultation session between Minister Abdelatty and his Sudanese counterpart, Ali Youssef Al-Sharif, attended by delegations from both countries.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s unwavering support for Sudan’s leadership and people, stressing efforts to alleviate the hardships facing the Sudanese populace.
He urged an immediate ceasefire and expedited delivery of humanitarian aid, emphasizing collaboration with UN initiatives, agencies, and international relief organizations.
Water security was a key topic during the consultations, with both sides reaffirming their aligned positions as downstream Nile Basin countries.
They agreed to maintain close coordination to safeguard their shared water interests and ensure sustainable security for both nations.
Minister Abdelatty also met with General Ibrahim Jaber, a member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and aide to Sudan’s Armed Forces Commander.
Abdelatty reiterated Cairo’s steadfast position of supporting Sudan’s national institutions while respecting its territorial integrity and unity.
During the visit, the minister held discussions with members of Sudan’s business community to enhance collaboration between Egyptian and Sudanese entrepreneurs, explore joint investment opportunities, and boost bilateral trade.
Furthermore, Abdelatty engaged with Sudanese politicians, civil society representatives, and members of the Egyptian community in Port Sudan, listening to their concerns and feedback according to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
