The Cairo giants will head to South Africa later today, where they will face the Pirates on Saturday in the second round of the CAF Continental's prestigious tournament group stage.

The 25-year-old forward Abou Ali rejoined training on Wednesday morning. He had been suffering from a foot injury that had kept him out of action since 23 November.

Abou Ali sustained the injury while training before his national team's showdown against South Korea in the Asian 2026 World Cup qualifiers last week.

Abou Ali, who scored 18 goals to win the Egyptian League's top-scorer title last season, has been a linchpin for Ahly since his arrival last January.

Moroccan stopper Dari, 25, was also available in Ahly’s travelling squad to South Africa after rejoining the training on Monday following an absence of over two months due to an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, the squad did not include second-choice goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir due to a muscular injury.

Ahly kicked off their continental campaign positively by defeating Stade d'Abidjan of Cote d’Ivoire 4-2 in their previous match.
