The four semifinalists of the continental tournament have automatically qualified for the World Championship scheduled in November 2025 in Germany and the Netherlands.
Egypt clinched a dramatic victory over hosts DR Congo, with Egyptian goalkeeper May Gomaa delivering a heroic performance during the game, making crucial saves that enabled the Egyptian team to win.
Her outstanding performance rightfully earned her the title of the best player in the game.
The Egyptian team began their African campaign with two consecutive victories against Congo (27-23) and Algeria (28-19), respectively.
They suffered their only defeat against Senegal (21-16) before bouncing back with two more wins against Kenya (45-17) and Cape Verde (27-24), ending the group stage in second place behind Congo.
In the semifinals, Egypt face a challenging task against defending champions Angola on Friday, while Tunisia will square off against Senegal on the same day.
The winners of these matches will meet in the final, set to be played on Saturday.
All four teams have secured their spots in the World Championship.
