Egypt's four major telecommunication companies, Telecom Egypt (WE), Orange Egypt, Vodafone Egypt, and e& Egypt, launched eSIM services across all their branches on Thursday.
Egyptians and foreigners with permanent residency can now exchange their traditional removable SIMs with eSIMs from their operators' stores. The eSIM cost, according to the fees set by each telecom operator, ranges between EGP 270 and EGP 350.
The eSIM card, introduced first by the GSM Association (GSMA) in 2010, represents a shift in Egypt's telecommunications industry.
It offers innovative solutions to prevent damage or loss of SIM cards and allows users to obtain and activate several numbers on the same eSIM.
Moreover, it marks a significant milestone in delivering more innovative services, as it is a digital integrated SIM that operates on smart devices, storing network data on the device itself.
“The launch of the eSIM service is not just an addition to our diverse offerings, but a reflection of our commitment to maintaining leadership in providing innovative and advanced technological services that drive transformation in the telecommunications world,” said Samer Murad, director at e& Egypt.
Murad emphasized that this step marks the beginning of a new innovation phase in Egypt's telecommunications sector.
"The company eagerly anticipates further progress in this field, contributing to the country's digital transformation and solidifying e& Egypt's position in shaping the future of telecommunications in the region," he concluded.
