El-Sisi made these remarks during his speech at the opening of the Egyptian-Danish Economic Conference in the Danish capital of Copenhagen, in the presence of King Frederik X of Denmark, according to the Egyptian Presidency.
The president said that the recent period has been marked by a succession of regional and international challenges that have had significant repercussions on Egypt, as they have on many other countries worldwide.
"In response, the Egyptian government has adopted a bold economic plan, designed to create a conducive environment for foreign investment, empower the private sector, and stimulate job creation," he noted.
He aslo said that the Egyptian economy, driven by the measures undertaken, successfully navigated this challenging period, resulting in positive economic indicators and a strengthened credit rating.
Addressing representatives of the Egyptian and Danish business sectors, El-Sisi expressed his appreciation to the Danish business community for their pivotal role in fostering collaboration between both countries and achieving shared goals.
He further affirmed that the economic, trade, and investment aspects and forging closer cooperation between the two sides’ private sectors are the core of the Egyptian-Danish partnership.
Egypt-Denmark Business Council
Both leaders launched the Egypt-Denmark Business Council in the presence of several businessmen and CEOs of Egyptian and Danish companies.
In this regard, the president said that this council is a gateway for Danish economic and commercial bodies to explore investment opportunities in Egypt.
"This aligns with Egypt’s ambition to become a regional hub for supply chains and the transport and trade of renewable and green energy, leveraging its geographic proximity, strategic location as well as investment-friendly zones," he noted.
Moreover, El-Sisi reiterated the Egyptian government's commitment to supporting Danish companies operating in Egypt and those interested in launching business there.
The president also underscored the Egyptian business community’s keenness to maintain its successful partnership with the Danish counterpart to bolster mutual interests and leverage the available opportunities.
"I look forward to a successful and productive conference, yielding tangible and actionable outcomes, paving the way for increased Danish investments in Egypt and achieving mutual benefits for our peoples," El-Sisi said.
Meeting business officials
The head of state met with the Chairman of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners Philip Christiani, who highlighted his company's willingness to cooperate with Egypt and enhance its investments therein.
He appreciated the company's interest in expanding its investment base in Egypt, reaffirming the state's keenness to expand its clean energy and green hydrogen production.
The president also highlighted Cairo's keenness to attract more foreign direct investments, particularly in the clean energy sector, emphasising the state's support for foreign companies operating in the country.
El-Sisi also met with Robert Maersk Uggla, the chairman of the board of directors of A.P. Moller-Maersk Group Robert Maersk Uggla, who thanked the president for the support provided by the Egyptian government for the company’s operations in Egypt.
He also highlighted Cairo's efforts to remove any obstacles facing companies operating there, stressing his company's keenness to enhance its cooperation and consider increasing the scope of its business in Egypt.
El-Sisi praised the existing cooperation with Maersk, appreciating the company's efforts to develop several Egyptian container terminals and transform them into global container handling terminals in the eastern and southern Mediterranean region.
He highlighted the company's projects to produce and supply its ships with green fuel, making Egypt a regional hub for its operations, whether in terms of container trade or clean fuel production.
President El-Sisi's visit to Denmark marks the first stop in his European tour, which includes Norway and Ireland.
