A snap shot of Egyptian Mansoura player Ahmed Abdel Wahed assaulting his coach, Alaa Nouh during the match with Arab Contractors.
Abdel-Wahed, 23, entered the game in the 60th minute with his Dakahliya-based side trailing Arab Contractors 2-0 in the Professional League, Egypt’s second-tier football league.
As per TV footage, the player was visibly shocked to see his number displayed for substitution in the 70th minute.
He initially refused to leave the pitch but eventually was talked into doing so by players from both sides.
An assistant coach attempted to calm the player down at the touchline.
However, the player refused consolation from the assistant coach and ran to lunge at his coach on the bench, shoving and headbutting him.
Seconds later, players and staff broke it off and escorted the player, now in tears, off the pitch.
"A player who does not abide by the instructions in a game will be replaced," Nouh told Ontime Sports TV after the game.
"None of our players are unexpendable. Players have to do what they are asked to do. If you don't, you are substituted, and that's normal," added Nouh.
Mansoura Club President Mohamed El-Bassiouny suspended Abdel-Wahed and initiated an inquiry into his actions.
Mansoura, a shining star in the Egyptian Premier League in the 1980s and 1990s, was relegated from the first division in 2009.
Since then, the team has failed to return to the Premier League amid financial and administrative struggles.
Mansoura lost the Arab Contractors' game 3-0 against and maintained its position at the bottom of the table with 3 points after 11 games.
If its woes continue, the team risks relegation to the third division at the end of the season.
