According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they discussed the latest developments in Syria during the call.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's full rejection of Israel's seizure of the demilitarized zone with Syria and the adjacent commanding sites as "an infringement on Syria's sovereignty and a blatant violation of international law."

Furthermore, he affirmed Egypt's steadfast stance in supporting the Syrian state and its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

Both sides also agreed on the importance of initiating a comprehensive political process in Syria that ensures the participation of all Syrian national groups to pave the way for restoring the country's stability.

On Monday also, Egypt condemned Israel's seizure of the demilitarized zone with Syria and the adjacent commanding sites. The seizure followed the fall of Damascus to insurgents, ending the Assad family's 50-year rule.

Developments in Syria have recently taken a dramatic turn following a surprise attack by the UN-designated terrorist group Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) on the Syrian army in Aleppo's northern province.
