The Egyptian giants are set to face Pachuca after the CONCACAF champions convincingly defeated Brazil's Botafogo 3-0 in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Wednesday.
The highly anticipated match is slated to unfold in Doha this Saturday. The victorious team will earn a coveted spot to battle European champions Real Madrid next Wednesday in Qatar.
"We are brimming with confidence as we navigate through this tournament with unwavering determination," remarked Ahly's Moroccan defender Achraf Dari in an interview with the club's official website on Thursday.
"The team will draw strength from the overwhelming support of our fans gathered here in Qatar," Dari further emphasized.
With a seasoned roster, Ahly boast players well-versed in achieving their objectives. "Ahly's squad comprises seasoned individuals who understand what it takes to succeed," Dari noted.
"I aspire to secure the Intercontinental Cup title with Ahly, much like my experience with the Moroccan national team during our journey to the 2022 World Cup quarterfinals," the Moroccan star reflected on his ambitions.
Meanwhile, Ahly's veteran defender Rami Rabia echoed the team's collective ambition, saying: "Our aim is not only to emerge victorious against Pachuca but also to secure a position in the tournament's ultimate match."
"Drawing from our extensive participation in previous editions of the FIFA Club World Cup, Ahly's players are determined to push the boundaries in this competition," Rabia added.
Ahly have a historical record against the Mexican side. They previously met in the FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinals during the 2008 edition, and they endured a 4-2 defeat in Japan.
Despite holding a 2-0 lead at halftime, the Red Devils faltered and ultimately lost 4-2 after extra time.
In the current edition, Ahly surged to the semifinals by overpowering UAE's Al-Ain 3-0 in the quarterfinals held in Cairo back in October.
In spite of their remarkable 10th appearance in the global tournament, the African champions have yet to secure a spot in the final across their nine previous participations, settling for the bronze medal on four occasions.
