The two ministers' remarks came after the fourth round of the strategic dialogue held between the two countries, which they co-chaired in Beijing.
According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussions coincided with Abdelatty's first official visit to China since taking office. The visit marked the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between both nations and celebrated the Egypt-China Partnership Year.
They reviewed the Egyptian-Chinese bilateral ties and the significant progress achieved across various fields, including the contributions of Chinese companies in numerous developmental projects in Egypt.
Abdelatty and Yi highlighted the impact of high-level visits on enhancing economic, trade, and investment ties, fostering cultural and educational relations and increasing Chinese tourist flows to Egypt.
Additionally, the Egyptian FM invited his Chinese counterpart to visit Egypt next year for a joint governmental committee meeting.
Earlier in October, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi attended the 16th BRICS Summit in Russia’s Kazan. This was Egypt's first participation as a group member since its official accession at the beginning of this year.
Regional crises
The two ministers addressed key regional and international crises, focusing on the Palestinian cause.
In this regard, Abdelatty and Yi agreed that the lack of a just resolution to the Palestinian cause remains the root cause of instability in the Middle East.
They called for ending the Israeli occupation and establishing a Palestinian State based on the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Addressing the Lebanese crisis, both sides welcomed the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, stressing the importance of respecting Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Discussions also touched upon the developments in Syria, where both sides supported Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
Furthermore, they highlighted the importance of safeguarding Syria's resources and institutions, stressing the need to support the Syrian people, alleviate their suffering, and achieve stability in the country.
On the international stage, the Egyptian FM highlighted the importance of upholding the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.
He called for reforming international institutions to ensure greater justice, representation of developing countries, and effectiveness in addressing global challenges.
