According to a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdelatty made these remarks during the Arab Ministerial Contact Committee on Syria meeting held in Aqaba, Jordan.
The meeting also included the foreign ministers of Bahrain, the UAE, and Qatar. Representatives of the US, Turkey, the UK, Germany, and the EU attended. The UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pederson, also participated in the meeting.
The statement added that Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's strong opposition to Israel's incursion into the buffer zone with Syria. He also condemned Israeli airstrikes targeting Syria's military infrastructure and strategic capabilities.
Following the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday, Israeli forces occupied the buffer zone in the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights. Subsequently, they took control of Jabal Al-Shaikh on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights.
On Monday, Israel Defense Minister Israel Katz said that once the buffer zone is fully secured, Israel would establish a "security zone" beyond it by dismantling heavy artillery in Syria.
The 1974 disengagement agreement had established a ceasefire line and a UN-monitored buffer zone to separate Israeli and Syrian military positions in the Golan Heights after the 1973 war.
Moreover, Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's unwavering support for the Syrian people during this critical time.
He stressed the importance of preserving Syria's unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty while strengthening state institutions to enhance their ability to serve the Syrian people.
Abdelatty further underlined the urgent need to initiate a fully Syrian-led political process to achieve national reconciliation and ensure the success of the transitional period, the statement concluded.
