The loss saw Pyramids FC relinquish their lead in Group D, as Esperance de Tunis claimed the top spot with seven points, pushing the Egyptian team down to second place with four points.

Youcef Belaili broke the deadlock for Esperance de Tunis ten minutes before halftime, providing the hosts with an early advantage.

South African winger Elias Mokwana added to the lead, doubling the score during injury time in the first half.

Esperance de Tunis controlled the game against Pyramids FC, creating more scoring opportunities and limiting the Egyptian team's chances.

Despite possessing one of the tournament's most potent attacking lineups, featuring standout players like Ibrahim Adel and Ramadan Sobhi, Pyramids FC struggled to find the back of the net.

Pyramids FC is set to host Esperance de Tunis in the upcoming fourth round of Group D matches on 3 January.
