According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on the strong bilateral ties between Egypt and France and the regional developments.
Minister Abdelatty praised the strategic relationship between the two countries. He highlighted the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation to strengthen ties between the Egyptian and French peoples.
He also elaborated on Egypt’s stance regarding the crises in Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, and Libya, reiterating Egypt’s foreign policy principles: supporting national states, preserving state institutions, respecting sovereignty, ensuring territorial integrity, and upholding international law.
Addressing Egypt’s economic situation, Abdelatty highlighted the government’s continued implementation of ambitious economic reform programmes despite successive regional and global crises.
He called for France’s support within the European Union (EU), particularly in advancing the six pillars of the Egypt-EU Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
He also underscored Egypt’s efforts to attract foreign investment by creating a conducive environment for international investors and inviting more French investments into the Egyptian market.
The discussion also touched upon Egypt’s comprehensive approach to combating illegal migration, which links migration to development and addresses its root causes.
Abdelatty underscored the financial burden Egypt faces in hosting millions of refugees and migrants displaced by regional crises, stressing the need for more European support.
The minister further showcased Egypt’s success in addressing counterterrorism through an integrated approach that includes economic, social, intellectual, and educational dimensions alongside security measures.
He also outlined Egypt’s political reform trajectory, highlighting the leadership’s prioritization of advancing human rights frameworks.
