The bodies were transported to the morgue at Qusiya Central Hospital, while the injured were taken to Assiut University Hospital for treatment.
The Public Prosecution has launched an investigation into the incident.
Egypt recorded 5,861 road accident fatalities in 2023, a decrease from 7,762 in 2022.
However, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), the number of injuries rose from 55,991 to 71,016 during the same period.
The government is implementing a national plan to expand and upgrade road networks and enhance road safety measures to reduce accidents.
