Five killed, 2 injured in bus collision in Egypt's Nile Delta

Five people were killed and two injured in a collision between a bus and a motorised tricycle in Egypt's Nile Delta governorate of Beheira on Saturday.

The accident occurred near the village of Sidi Ghazi, affiliated with the Kafr El-Dawar centre.

The injured were transported to Kafr El-Dawar Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were also taken to the hospital.

The Public Prosecution has been notified and is investigating the cause of the accident.

Egypt recorded 5,861 road accident fatalities in 2023, a decrease from 7,762 in 2022.

However, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), injuries rose from 55,991 to 71,016 during the same period.

The government is implementing a national plan to expand and upgrade road networks and enhance road safety measures to reduce accidents.
