Egypt defence minister meets Air Force fighters during inspection tour of air base

Minister of Defence and Military Production General Abdel Mageed Saqr inspected an air base and met with several Egyptian Air Force fighters.

This visit is part of a field follow-up on the Armed Forces units and formations to assess their readiness and combat preparedness for all assigned tasks, according to a statement released by the military spokesman on Saturday.

Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Lieutenant-General Ahmed Khalifa, commanders of the main branches, and several other Armed Forces commanders accompanied Minister Saqr during the tour.

Saqr also toured a ground exhibition featuring various multi-role aircraft and fighters. There, he received detailed explanations about the latest combat systems, weapons, and aviation equipment.

He also discussed with several pilots the planning and execution of missions to protect Egypt's skies and secure its airspace under various circumstances.

Additionally, the minister observed the takeoff of several fighter aircraft as they carried out a training mission, demonstrating the Air Force's ability and efficiency to perform tasks with precision and effectiveness.

The statement added that he also attended an air combat training exercise with the participation of Egyptian Air Force fighters and personnel from the air forces of friendly countries.

Saqr welcomed pilots from other countries who participated in various training courses in Egypt, emphasizing the Armed Forces' commitment to enhancing military cooperation and exchanging expertise with friendly armies.

According to the statement, several air sorties were carried out during the training, showcasing the capability to conduct joint air operations.

Furthermore, Lieutenant-General Mahmoud Fouad Abdel-Gawad, commander of the Egyptian Air Force, delivered a speech stressing the fighters' ability to secure the country's borders and defend its skies and sacred soil amid the current challenges.

Minister Saqr also conveyed President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's greetings and appreciation for the Air Force fighters.

Additionally, he pointed out the Armed Forces General Command's keenness to provide the Air Force with the latest, most modern aircraft systems to meet all challenges and keep pace with continuous technological development.

“The Air Force is the key to victory in all battles, and its men are the protectors of Egypt's skies. The ruling factor in any battle is the individual fighter who possesses high combat capabilities enabling them to carry out all tasks under various circumstances,” he concluded.
