The delegation included His Eminence Metropolitan Ioannis of Voliotis, Dimitrios Sotiropoulos, the President of the General State Archives of Greece, Maria Diamanti, Adviser to the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports of Greece, Athanasios Liosis, Deputy Head of Mission at the Greek Embassy in Cairo, and Ioannis Bergakis, Consul General of Greece in Alexandria. The visit aimed to explore the library as an enlightening and cultural landmark in Egypt and the world.

Heba El-Rafie, Acting Head of the External Relations and Media Sector at the Library of Alexandria, received the delegation and guided them on a tour to explore the library and its various sectors. During the visit, El-Rafie presented the minister with a copy of the book Cairo's Photographic Memory.
The minister and his delegation toured the main reading hall, where they learned about the library's digital and technological projects. They also visited the exhibitions and museums housed within the library, such as the Alexandria Across the Ages Exhibition, the Manuscripts Museum, the Antiquities Museum, the Bulaq Press Exhibition, the Kaaba (holy shrine) Cover Exhibition, and the museum of the late President Anwar Sadat. Additionally, they attended a presentation at the Cultural Panorama (Culturama).
At the end of the tour, the minister and his accompanying delegation expressed great happiness at visiting the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. They admired the cultural and historical treasures they witnessed and praised the library's educational and cultural role. The minister emphasized that the library is a vital hub connecting different cultures and promoting dialogue and understanding among nations.
Pierrakakis's visit to Egypt also included a meeting with Egypt's Minister of Education and Technical Education, Mohamed Abdel-Latif, and the Greek Ambassador to Egypt, Νikolaos Papageorgiou, to discuss potential collaboration in developing pre-university education.
