Minister Saqr was accompanied by Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant-General Ahmed Khalifa, commanders from various branches, and several other army leaders, according to a statement by the military spokesman.
During his tour, Saqr observed multiple training activities conducted by the Air Defence units and discussed with commanders and officers how they execute their specialised tasks.
Then, he visited the Joint Mobilization Command Centre, where he listened to a detailed presentation on the formations's plans and measures to secure their airspace.
The statement indicated that the minister also observed a model of repelling an enemy attack that showcased the high-level combat readiness among Air Defense personnel.
Furthermore, the defence minister met with Air Defence fighters in the presence of Lieutenant-General Yasser El-Toudi, commander of the Air Defence Forces, the statement added.
During the meeting, El-Toudi asserted that the Air Defence personnel are keen to reach the highest levels of combat readiness to carry out all tasks assigned to them under various circumstances.
He also pointed out the modern technological capabilities of the Air Defence Forces, which enable them to protect Egypt's skies and secure its airspace within the Armed Forces' integrated combat system.
Moreover, Minister Saqr conveyed President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s appreciation to the Air Defence fighters.
He also reiterated the Armed Forces General Command's keenness to constantly develop combat training plans and programmes according to scientific standards.
According to the statement, he emphasized that the combatant individual “is the real wealth of the Armed Forces and its pillar for defending the homeland and preserving its sanctities.”
Additionally, he reviewed the current events in light of the region's rapid changes and their repercussions on Egypt's national security.
“The Egyptian state has the ability to achieve balance in the region,” Saqr stressed.
