The ministry noted that the incident occurred in deep waters outside the Red Sea resort's swimming area.
It added that both victims were taken to Porto Ghalib Hospital.
The nationalities of the afflicted tourists have not been disclosed yet.
According to a ministerial statement, Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad instructed officials to increase readiness levels and immediate follow-up within Red Sea reserves.
She also ordered the formation of an urgent committee to investigate the attack's cause with the relevant authorities.
Furthermore, the minister directed officials to close the area to swimming for two days starting Monday, particularly after previous warnings against swimming from scaffolding.
The statement also indicated that assessments are ongoing to monitor the accident site and surrounding areas.
The latest shark attack in Egypt was reported in September 2023, when an Egyptian woman was injured in Dahab, a well-known Red Sea city in South Sinai.
In June 2023, authorities in the Red Sea governorate also reported a tiger shark attack in Hurghada that claimed the life of a 24-year-old Russian national.
