Produced by Ashour in collaboration with the Saudi Benchmark entertainment company, the highly successful hit has secured the Song of the Year title for being the most streamed song on Spotify, played more than 26 million times on the platform.
On Anghami, Haygyly Mawgooa topped the Top in Saudi Arabia 2024 Playlist, alongside towering lists of Oman, Libya, and Yemen. The song came second on Top Egypt and Top Arabic 2024 Playlists, right after Amr Diab's Makanak.
Ashour's song still trends as No. 4 top music video on YouTube in Egypt and is the second most-viewed song by an Arab artist with more than 186 million views. The biggest number of views came in the first months, as in August, the song had already reached 140 million views.
With those numbers, Haygyly Mawgooa is Ashour's most successful single on YouTube, surpassing his previous hit, Khaleeny Fi Hodnak, which was released in January 2022 and has scored 106 million views to date.
Earlier this month, Haygyly Mawgooa was also named the Song of the Year during the first edition of the Billboard Arabia Music Awards (BBAMAs).
Billboard Arabia also awarded Sherine Abdel-Wahab the Artist of the Year award. Meanwhile, Amr Diab won the Top Male Artist award, rapper TUL8TE won the Highest Gainer award, and Cairokee band won the Top Band award.
The high views on YouTube for Haygyly Mawgooa are just a few steps behind the Moroccan musician Mohamed Lazaar's song Mahboul Ana, which has more than 205 million views since its release in mid-July, and hence taking first place.
Spotify also ranked Ashour as the fourth most-streamed Egyptian singer in 2024, right after Essam Sasa at number one, Amr Diab in second place, and Eslam Kabonga in third.
At the same time, Ashour's 2022 album Teegy Netrahen came in fourth as the most streamed album on Spotify in Egypt, preceded by Marwan Pablo’s Akher Qetaa Faneya at number one, Cocktail Ghena'y by TUL8TE as second, and Roma by Cairokee as third.
Born in 1984, Ashour launched his musical journey in 2004. His breakthrough as a singer came with the release of his debut single Zekrayat Kedaba (Lying Memories) in 2006. The song's success led Ashour to work on his first album Saab (Difficult), released in 2007.
After that, Ashour released several other albums, including Had Byheb (2008), Laya Nazra (2011), Esht Maak (2014), Khayali (2017), Ayam (2019), and Tegy Netrahen (2022).
Other Egyptian singers are also in the lead in views on YouTube and are equally recognized by other platforms.
The duo Syrian Assala and Egyptian star Ahmed Saad released the song Sabb Farhety last February. To date, the video has garnered 108 million views. The song remains Egypt's No. 24 top music video.
Sabb Farhety brought the duo the top Arabic Collaboration of the Year award from the Billboard Arabia Music Awards.
Egyptian shaabi singer Mahmoud El-Leithy has also entered the top 10 most viewed videos by Arab singers with his single Am Elmagaal, which the music producer Abu El-Sid posted on his YouTube channel in March this year.
El-Leithy's song reached almost 80 million views and continues to sit as No. 6 top music video on YouTube in Egypt.
Other most viewed singers from the Arab world in 2024 include Lebanese Wael Jassar's Koul Waad, a music video which since February scored 124 million views, and the same month's release of a single Fatou Liyam by an Algerian singer Cheb Hichem Tgv which also brought more than 100 million views.
