In a statement, the ministry added that all beneficiaries of cash support programmes receive services from the comprehensive health insurance system, healthcare programme for the underprivileged, and state-funded medical treatment programme.
Furthermore, 93 percent of cash support programmes’ beneficiaries receive additional food subsidies, including bread and essential goods, helping alleviate the burden of living costs for these families.
The ministry also highlighted its coordination with the Health Insurance Organization to enrol Takaful & Karama beneficiaries, who live outside governorates covered by the comprehensive health insurance system, in the general health insurance system.
Takaful & Karama cash support programme, launched in 2015, is a key component of Egypt's social protection system.
It aims to support low-income families with school-aged children, the elderly, and people with special needs, particularly in Upper Egypt.
Egypt leads the Middle East and North Africa in providing social protection programmes, according to the World Bank’s reports.
