This took place at the association’s annual conference in Cairo, acknowledging Aboul-Enein’s significant scientific and academic contributions and his ongoing support for the association in strengthening Egyptian-American relations.
He was also honoured for his substantial support of Egyptian scientists, engineers, doctors, and university professors in the diaspora in the United States and Canada. This recognition highlights the critical role these scientists play in driving Egypt’s economic, scientific, and technological development, contributing to the building of modern Egypt.

The conference was chaired by Dr Mohamed Atta Allah, who highlighted the profound impact of cooperation between Egyptian scientists abroad and their home country, stressing that these connections play an essential role in Egypt's progress across various fields.
Ambassador Aboul-Enein in Egypt & beyond
Ambassador Aboul-Enein is an associate fellow within the Global Fellowship Initiative of the GCSP and has just been appointed assistant minister of foreign affairs of Egypt after completing his post as Ambassador Consul General to the Midwest States of America (2019-2024). He was appointed Professor of International Relations and Organizations at the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations.
He is an adjunct professor of disarmament, international and regional security at the American University in Cairo (AUC), a visiting professor for crisis management, security and diplomacy at the University of East Anglia and security and diplomatic studies at the University of Sterling in the UK. He is also a visiting lecturer, course instructor, and academic advisor at the NATO Defense College in Rome and the Defense Academy of the UK and a senior lecturer at the School of Business in the Management Centre of the AUC. He is also a member of the UN Group of Governmental Experts (GGE) on Cyber security.

Professor Aboul-Enein has published and lectured widely in English and Arabic on international and regional security, conflict resolution, and the Middle East Nuclear Free Zone.
He won the 2013 American University in Cairo Alumni Distinguished Award for Outstanding Work and Talent. In March 2015, he was also awarded the 2014-2015 Outstanding Academic Recognition Award by the Political Science Department, AUC.
During his postings in Geneva and London, Aboul-Enein supported several alumni and charity fundraising campaigns for education and capacity-building in Egypt.
He served as an advisor to two previous foreign ministers. He was Counsellor for Arab and Middle East Affairs, Cabinet of the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Cairo (2000-2002).
He started his diplomatic career in 1987. From 1994 to 1996, he was the political officer for Middle East-Israeli/Palestinian Affairs in the Cabinet of the Egyptian Foreign Minister.
Aboul-Enein led negotiations (national/cross-regional/multilateral) in several international forums on nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation, and nuclear energy at the Conference on Disarmament, IAEA, UN First Committee, and NPT.
