The decision followed the EFA's attempt to reduce Micale's salary due to financial constraints.

Although Micale offered a $15,000 monthly pay cut, the federation deemed it insufficient and invoked the contract's penalty clause.

The EFA announced in a statement that Micale, who has been in charge since September 2024, will receive a severance package equivalent to three months of his $117,500 monthly salary.

The payment will be distributed over six monthly instalments beginning in February.

"Today, the EFA officially notified me of its decision to terminate my contract, which was set to expire in 2028, ahead of the Los Angeles Olympics," Micale said in a statement.

"I depart with gratitude for the players, staff, and Egyptian people, and hope to encounter them again in the future," he added.

Micale, 55, guided Egypt's team to a fourth-place finish at the Paris 2024 Olympics and led the youth team to qualify for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, scheduled for April 2025.

The EFA has yet to announce Micale's successor. Although no date has been set, a decision is anticipated during the next board meeting.

The federation has recently annulled financial decisions and appointments made in November and December, before the new administration's tenure, as part of a broader financial review.
