The Ministry of Social Solidarity issued 1.5 mln Integrated Services Card for individuals with disabilities
The Integrated Services Card enables its holder to receive two pensions, access education, and receive tax and customs exemptions on cars and prosthetics.
It also offers discounts on transportation, youth centre memberships, and sports clubs as well as free hospital exams and museum admissions.
According to the statement, the ministry also launched the “We Will Reach You” campaign in 2023, in cooperation with the Sonaa Al-Hayat (Life Makers) Foundation, to make it easier for people with disabilities and their families to obtain the card and access its benefits.
Moreover, the ministry revealed that it has employed 1,318 people with disabilities since the beginning of 2024, in coordination with private-sector companies, factories, and banks nationwide.
Earlier in December, it worked with NGOs and private sector companies to train people with disabilities in various skills to prepare them for the job market, the ministry added.
In collaboration with various partners, the ministry is currently developing the National Network for Persons with Disabilities (Taheel), which was launched in 2021.
The network connects rehabilitation, training, and employment programmes to help young people with disabilities find decent jobs and supports national efforts in their qualification and employment.
Furthermore, the ministry integrated 587 students with hearing impairments into 13 universities and provided 83 sign-language interpreters at an annual cost of EGP 2.9 million.
Per 2023 statistics, the number of people with disabilities in Egypt is around 11 million.
According to the ministry, these efforts are part of Egypt's initiatives and policies to secure the rights of people with disabilities for empowerment and full participation.
