In a statement on its official Facebook page, the embassy clarified that the fee exemptions apply only to the document certification process and exclude other services.

On Thursday, the Syrian Embassy in Cairo announced that Syrian nationals could obtain free return tickets on the same day without needing prior appointments.

Approximately 1.5 million Syrians reside in Egypt, representing the second-largest foreign community in the country after Sudanese nationals. According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), 148,439 Syrian refugees have been officially registered in Egypt, although many are still awaiting their yellow cards.

Since the fall of Bashar Al-Assad's regime on 8 December, Egypt has consistently reaffirmed its full support for the Syrian people.

Cairo has also expressed hope that the ongoing political transition in Syria will be inclusive and entirely led by Syrians, free from external interference.

Syria has suffered 13 years of civil war, compounded by Western sanctions targeting the Al-Assad government. The conflict has caused over 500,000 deaths, displaced millions, and rendered half of the country's hospitals non-operational.

Since 2011, Egypt has welcomed hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, ensuring their access to vital educational and healthcare services.
