The event, presided over by Rev. Andrea Zaki, head of the Evangelical community in Egypt, was held at the Kasr El Dobara Evangelical Church and was attended by a host of prominent public figures.
During the event, Morsy extended her congratulations to Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki, the Evangelical community, and all Coptic Christians, expressing her wishes for the occasion to bring progress and prosperity to the nation and blessings to its people.
Coptic Orthodox Egyptians, who comprise 90 percent of Egypt's Christians, celebrate Christmas on 7 January, following the Julian Calendar. The occasion has been designated a national holiday in Egypt since 2002.
Meanwhile, other Egyptian Christian denominations, such as Catholics and Anglicans, celebrate Christmas on 25 December, following the Gregorian Calendar.
