Egypt extends condolences to China after devastating earthquake

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated its condolences to China for the victims of a devastating earthquake that struck southwest China and killed and injured hundreds.

At least 126 people were killed and 188 injured after a 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck the foothills of the Himalayas around 9:00am local time on Tuesday, according to Chinese state media.

A large-scale rescue operation is underway, with survivors facing additional challenges as overnight temperatures are expected to drop to as low as -16°C (3.2°F).

Tuesday’s earthquake is among the deadliest to hit China in recent years, according to Chinese and international media reports.
