This statement comes in response to claims circulating on social media platforms and hostile media outlets, suggesting that the government intends to sell the GEM after reshaping the museum’s Board of Trustees for three years.

Earlier on Saturday, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi issued a presidential decree for restructuring the Grand Egyptian Museum's (GEM) board of trustees, which the president headed, to serve for three years.

Additionally, the media centre stated that these claims are false and have no basis in reality.

According to the statement, the claims are another attempt to stir confusion by spreading rumours and lies among the public.

Meanwhile, the centre also underscored the government's commitment to preserving Egyptian antiquities and cultural heritage.

It also noted ongoing monitoring of the GEM's progress and preparations for its opening, with an official date to be announced soon.

The GEM, overlooking the iconic Giza Plateau, is currently in a soft opening. Visitors can explore key areas that display some of the most remarkable artefacts from ancient Egypt.

The museum is slated for its official inauguration in 2025.

Once officially inaugurated, the GEM, representing the country's first eco-friendly museum, will also be the largest museum dedicated to a single civilization.

Since November 2022, the GEM has been hosting limited events and group visits to select areas of the complex to test site readiness and enhance the visitor experience prior to the operational trial phase.
