This came during their phone call on Saturday, addressing regional issues of mutual interest, including their views on the volatile security situation in the Red Sea, according to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Sunday.
Saturday’s call also addressed developments in the Horn of Africa and support for Somalia, including efforts to preserve its unity, stability, and territorial integrity.
FM Abdealtty reaffirmed Cairo's commitment to cooperation with Djibouti in development, trade, and stability in the Horn of Africa as outlined by the call between President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Djiboutian President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh last October.
On Saturday, in a joint press conference with his Eritrean counterpart, Osman Saleh, and Somali counterpart, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, in Cairo, Egypt's top diplomat emphasised the need to support security and stability in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea and secure maritime navigation.
FM Abdelatty also stressed during the presser that no military or naval presence of any non-littoral state in the Red Sea would be accepted.
