The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Egyptian nationals in Los Angeles and surrounding areas to exercise maximum caution, avoid hazardous zones, and adhere strictly to warnings and instructions issued by local authorities.
The ministry added on Sunday that it was closely monitoring the situation of the Egyptian community in Los Angeles and neighbouring cities in California following the spread of devastating wildfires across various parts of the state.
In the event of harm, injuries, or losses among the Egyptian community due to the wildfires, affected individuals are encouraged to contact the Consulate General in Los Angeles via email at [email protected] or by phone at (323) 933-9700.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced that this will help facilitate ongoing assessments and enable the provision of necessary consular assistance.
Egypt expressed its full solidarity with the United States during this challenging period, extending heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
At least 16 people have lost their lives in the Los Angeles wildfires, as four massive blazes continue to wreak havoc across the sprawling Californian city.
According to news reports, approximately 35,000 homes and businesses currently lack power.
As of Saturday, local authorities have issued evacuation orders affecting over 153,000 residents in Los Angeles County, with an additional 166,000 under evacuation warnings.
