Qatar SC have officially welcomed South African forward Percy Tau from Egyptian team Ahly marking the end of a turbulent season at the Red Devils.

The arrival of Tau, who spent 3-and-a-half seasons with the Reds, was made through Qatar SC's official X account, with a video showcasing Tau's skills and introducing him as part of the Qatari side.

The club expressed excitement about having Tau on board, stating, "Percy Tau is Qatari."

Tau's transfer to Qatar SC reportedly involves a six-month contract, with the possibility of extension for an additional two seasons, subject to the player's performance and impact within the team.

The 30-year-old forward initially joined Ahly from English Premier League team Brighton in the summer of 2021 on a four-year deal.

However, his tenure at Ahly was marked by uncertainties due to recurring injuries.

During his time with Ahly, Tau won 11 titles including two Champions League title in 2023 and 2024. He totalled 126 appearances, scoring 30 goals and providing 14 assists.

This season, he fell down the pecking order due to the lack of impact and the desire of coach Marcel Koller to bring in a new winger to bolster the team's front line.

Percy Tau began his professional career with Mamelodi Sundowns FC in 2013, where he achieved considerable success, winning seven trophies over five seasons.

His accolades include the 2016 African Champions League title and the 2017 African Super Cup.

Notably, he was also the top scorer in the South African League for the 2017-18 season, netting 11 goals.

Following his stint in South Africa, Tau moved to the English Premier League side Brighton in 2018 before being loaned to Belgian club Union SG, where he excelled by scoring 13 goals and providing 13 assists, earning recognition as the best player in the Belgian league.

His loan spell at Club Brugge in the 2019-20 season was equally successful, contributing to the team's triumph in the Belgian Super League with four goals and six assists.

Qatar SC find themselves struggling in the relegation zone of the Qatar Stars League, positioned 11th in the table with ten points.

They are 18 points behind the league leaders, Al Duhail SC, and will be looking to Percy Tau to bolster their squad and aid in their quest for a higher standing in the league.
