On Thursday, Sky Sport (Germany) revealed that Manchester City has agreed on personal terms with the in-form forward. Still, it confirmed that negotiations between both clubs over the transfer fee remain ongoing.
“Manchester City are progressing in talks with Eintracht Frankfurt for Omar Marmoush,” the report said early on Tuesday.
The Pep Guardiola side was expected to submit an initial bid for Marmoush this week. To save their campaign, they want to bolster their attack during the winter transfer window.
After 20 games, the Citizens are sixth in the Premier League table, trailing leaders Liverpool by 12 points. Liverpool still have one game in hand.
According to the report, it seems that City have already lodged a certain financial bid with the German side.
“City believe they can sign the forward for around £59m plus bonus payments, but Eintracht's CEO boss Markus Krosche would like a fee in the region of £67m,” the report explained.
Marmoush, 25, has been the subject of intense transfer speculations in recent weeks amid reported interest from other European giants, including the likes of Arsenal, Serie A side Roma, and La Liga giants Barcelona.
The versatile forward, operating in any position across the front three, enjoys a remarkable 2024-25 campaign. He scored 19 goals in 25 matches for Eintracht Frankfurt and contributed 12 assists across all competitions.
Moreover, he shined again on Saturday, extending his Bundesliga scoring streak after scoring the winner in the 1-0 win over St. Pauli.
On the international stage, Marmoush has continued to impress. Since his debut in 2021, he has earned 35 caps and scored 6 goals, solidifying his role as a key player for the Pharaohs.
City have struggled in attack this season, with Erling Haaland's 16 goals standing in stark contrast to the rest of their forwards, none of whom have scored more than twice in the league.
Marmoush's arrival would provide much-needed depth and creativity in the final third as Guardiola's side aims to revive their domestic title challenge.
