Ambassador Abu El-Enein received the Venezuelan ambassador on the occasion of his appointment as dean of the Latin American ambassadors accredited in Cairo.
During their meeting, both ambassadors explored ways to strengthen Egyptian-Latin American relations in various fields, particularly the economy, trade, and investment sectors.
They also addressed Egypt’s participation in Latin American economic blocs such as CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States), SICA (Central American Integration System), and the Pacific Alliance.
Moreover, the two sides discussed activating the free trade agreement between Egypt and the Mercosur bloc and prospects for future cultural cooperation.
The Mercosur trade bloc is made up of five member countries. It has four founding members — Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay — in addition to Bolivia, which became a full member in July 2024.
The group encompasses over 285 million people and has a combined GDP of nearly $3 trillion.
