Rights and humanitarian groups, scholars, and foreign governments have accused Israel of committing war crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
South Africa has also brought a case against Israel to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), with several countries joining it.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defence minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity over the Gaza war.
The ICJ ordered Israel in January 2024 to do all it could to prevent death, destruction, and any "acts of genocide" in its war on Gaza.
Below are the United Nations and Palestinian authorities’ figures showing the devastating impact of the deadliest Israeli war on Gaza.
