Sky Sports reported that the Saudi giants are eyeing Salah as a potential replacement for Brazilian forward Neymar, who could leave Saudi Arabia when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The report added that Al-Hilal’s possible signing of Salah could see him headline the expanded FIFA Club World Cup in the USA, scheduled for June and July.
According to reports, the Egyptian winger has been offered a staggering £65 million package to move to Saudi Arabia on a two-year contract, which would net the Egyptian a mind-blowing £625,000 per week.
The 32-year-old Egyptian winger has been in exceptional form for Liverpool this season, scoring 21 goals and providing 17 assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.
However, Salah’s future at Anfield remains uncertain, with his contract set to expire in less than six months.
Despite his outstanding performances, the club hierarchy has yet to offer him a new contract, leaving his future up in the air.
This latest offer from Al-Hilal comes just a day after Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, shared a picture of Salah in an Al-Hilal kit on his Facebook page.
Alalshikh, who has played a significant role in bringing major sports events to Saudi Arabia, is reportedly set to present the proposal to Salah in the coming days, making it clear that the Saudi Pro League is keen on welcoming the Egyptian star if talks over his renewal with Liverpool fail.
Salah has been vocal about his contract situation, telling media outlets last month: “We are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in. You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end, it is not in my hands. As I said, it is December, and I haven’t received anything yet about my future. I love the fans. The fans love me. Ultimately, it is not in my or the fans’ hands.”
This offer follows Liverpool's rejection of a £150 million bid from Al-Ittihad for Salah in August 2023.
Salah has been a key figure for Liverpool since joining from AS Roma in 2017, scoring 232 goals in 378 games and winning eight trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League.
His preference remains to stay at Anfield, where he has asked the club for a three-year deal worth £400,000 per week. The deal would allow him to surpass Ian Rush as Liverpool’s all-time top scorer.
As the clock ticks down on Salah’s contract, the stage is set for a potential summer blockbuster, with Al-Hilal ready to make a bold move should Liverpool fail to secure the services of their star forward.
