Egypt FM discusses Gaza ceasefire, prisoner exchange agreement with US Blinken

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed the Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday in a phone call.

Blinken praised President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi’s pivotal role in reaching the agreement.

He expressed the United States' appreciation for Egypt's intensive mediation efforts, which were instrumental in achieving the ceasefire.

For his side, Minister Abdelatty underscored the critical importance of immediately implementing the agreement, including the ceasefire and the exchange of prisoners and detainees, while emphasizing the need for all parties to adhere to its terms and timeline fully.

He highlighted the urgency of scaling up humanitarian aid delivery across Gaza in the coming period and called for international efforts to support its reconstruction, including rebuilding its infrastructure and healthcare systems.

Minister Abdelatty expressed his appreciation for cooperating with Secretary Blinken and wished the current US administration well as it approaches the end of its term.
